As TEFAF Maastricht 2025 draws to a close, we at Bowman Sculpture are reflecting on an extraordinary week immersed in the world’s most prestigious art fair. Set against the historic backdrop of the Maastricht Exhibition & Conference Centre, this year’s edition lived up to its reputation, celebrating the best of fine art, design, and sculpture from across the globe.

We were delighted to welcome collectors, curators, and art lovers to Stand 181, where our curated presentation spanned nearly 200 years of sculptural excellence. The conversations, connections, and shared passion for sculpture made this year’s fair truly unforgettable.

Celebrating Art Deco at 100

One of the defining themes at TEFAF 2025 was the centenary of Art Deco. Bowman Sculpture proudly contributed to this celebration with striking pieces including:

  • Attilio Piccirilli’s Flower of the Alps (1917)
  • Richard Garbe’s The Red Shawl (1928)
  • Boleslas Biegas’s The Wave (1907)

Each of these works demonstrated the enduring elegance, geometric refinement, and international appeal that define the Art Deco movement—drawing considerable admiration from fair visitors.

A Spotlight on Women Sculptors

Another standout moment was the recognition of pioneering women artists—a focus that resonated deeply with our gallery’s ethos. Our display included:

  • Sarah Bernhardt’s Autoportrait (c. 1885)
  • Kim Lim’s Untitled Relief (1995)
  • Helaine Blumenfeld OBE’s Messenger of the Spirit (2006)
  • Dame Barbara Hepworth’s Three Forms (Winter Rocks) (1965)

It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm these works received, further cementing the importance of championing female voices in sculpture.

Rodin’s Timeless Allure

Our exhibition would not have been complete without paying homage to the master himself, Auguste Rodin. Highlights included:

  • L’Éternel Printemps (1st Reduction, 1907)
  • Le Baiser (The Kiss) (1st Reduction, 1912)

Both pieces drew collectors and admirers alike, sparking meaningful discussions about Rodin’s enduring influence on modern sculpture.

Contemporary Voices: Massimiliano Pelletti

Our commitment to showcasing contemporary talent was embodied by the remarkable works of Massimiliano Pelletti, whose pieces beautifully merged classical form with modern concept. His sculptures, exploring cultural hybridity and material transformation, provided a striking contrast and a glimpse into the future of figurative sculpture.
