ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This collaborative sculpture was made by Goodman and Mallock, as a tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, to commemorate her 70th Jubilee. It was cast during her lifetime and therefore bears the jubilee stamp as part of the English silver hallmark.

This fine silver portrait shows her Trooping the Colour, on her favourite horse, Burmese, presented to her by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Burmese was ridden by The Queen for 18 consecutive years before The Queen retired her and decided to ride in a carriage during the celebration.

The Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the ruling monarch for over 260 years. In recent celebrations over 1400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians have come together, in a great display of military precision, to celebrate this day. Once the military bands have performed, the escorted Regimental Colour, is passed down the ranks of soldiers, ending in a fly-past by the Royal Air Force and a 41-gun salute.
