Carlos Mata was a Spanish sculptor born on the Spanish island of Palma de Mallorca. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris and Barcelona. During his career as an independent artist, he resided mostly in Spain and France. His sculptures have been exhibited worldwide in galleries, museums, and art fairs and have been commissioned in monumental sizes. In 2008 a posthumous retrospective showing more than 30 of his works was held at Haras du Pin, in Normandy, France.
